Interview, GPS, and Parking Citation.

Well, good news, my interview went very well. I feel very confident that I will get a job offer early next week. They are running my criminal background check (which will come out spotless, obviously!) She told me orientation was next Thursday and it should be the last time I actually have to travel to D.C. The position pays very well, which is a good plus! So thank you to everyone for your prayers!
I had no trouble finding the place, the GPS did perfect. That is, until I was trying to program the route back home. This pop-up appeared saying it had performed an "illegal" operation. So it completly shut down on me, I couldn't reset it, nothing worked! So luckily my Siobhan navigated me out of D.C. via Mapquest :) Thank goodness!
Oh, and if that wasn't enough. I found a lovely pink parking citation on my windshield. Nice.
So I better get this job. :)

First Snow!!

Maverick has never seen snow...he wasn't that impressed. lol

So I finally got my first snow! I was very excited to wake up and see the beautiful snow everywhere. And it's still snowing!! Hopefully all day!

Workin hard for the money...

I have a job interview w/ InterSolutions Inc on Thursday at 10:30am!!! Please pray that this job will work out.
The interview is in D.C., but she said I will more than likely be working closer to Fredericksburg. They have properties all over the No. Virginia area. It's in property management, which is what I was doing at my previous job. I'm very excited about this interview!
Now I'm just hoping I can navigate through D.C. by myself...*crossing fingers*

Apartment

It's taken me a while, but I finally took some pictures of the apartment. I still feel it's very plain. We are still trying to figure out our wall situation...lol. We have a few things to still hang. Our Guest bedroom still isn't put together...so ignore the boxes you see. I'm going to decorate the guest bedroom with a tropical theme, I still need to buy curtains, well decor, etc...

My antique kitchen hutch I found in K-town. It was a steal, I just couldn't pass it up! That is actually a childs desk on the bottom...there are crayon markings in the drawers, so cute!!

New First Family

Goodbye Bush family and welcome Obama family!!

I'm sure most of you tried to watch the celebration yesterday! Taylor and I watched it pretty much all day. I would've loved to have been in D.C., but there was really no good way to get there. Most major interstates were shut down and all train/metro tickets were sold out. So we watched it at home :) I'm very optimistic for these next 4 years. I pray that God will give President Obama the strength and wisdom he needs to govern this country.

But I just feel I need to say one thing...now before I go on...I'm not a very "political" person nor do I like confrontation. I logged into Facebook/Myspace yesterday to find a lot of hate towards Pres. Obama...particulary coming from "Christians". Now, no I did not vote for Obama. When it comes right down to it, I voted for the man that stood for the things I personally believed in. BUT...I feel now more than ever that Christians need to get behind our new President and lift him up, pray for him, encourage him!! We need to remember that our God is still on His throne with His hand still over this country. I'm not saying you have to agree with all his policies. But by dragging him down just shows how close minded you are. President Obama could really turn out to be the best President we've ever had...I'm willing to give him that chance. I will hold him accountable for running this country. His family and this country are in my prayers. *off my soapbox now*

Pots & Pallets

A friend and co-worker of Taylor's introduced me to this awesome pottery painting place called Pots & Pallets. I went there 2 weeks ago and painted a 3-piece teapot. I still need to finish the 2 tea cups. Hopefully next weekend I can start :)

Arlington Cemetary and more...

So Taylor and I went to Arlington National Cemetary this afternoon...it was overcast and chilly, it also started raining, so we didn't stay as long as planned. But we will go back when my family comes up in March. Taylor went last weekend, 3 of the men that were KIA during their first deployment are buried there. 2 from Kilo, 1 - LCPL Wolfe from WPNS. Taylor knew Wolfe and worked with him daily. I had never met him, but had the opportunity to meet his family at the 3/2 memorial service in 2007. What a sweet sweet family they were! We took an arragement to his gravesite and paid our respects.


This was my first trip to Arlington, it was surreal and humbling...and many feelings I can't describe. I wanted to witness the change of guards, but like I said before it started raining and there was no where we could park. This is really the only thing we stopped and did. We went back to Ikea and I got my futon...now assembling it! Also went to Potomac Mills mall - never going back! Lol. It was nice, but geez...wayyyyy too many people for my taste.
I have to give props to our Navigon for navigating us around D.C....she did a real nice job!! Thanks to mom and dad Culberson!!!

"Favorites" List:

I thought this might be kind of fun and interesting. Since 2008 is now behind us, I thought I would recap some of my favorite things. They are not in any order, just me sharing some favorite things from 2008...and maybe a few things I'm looking foward to in 2009.
1. The Dark Knight - This probably would be my top pick of 2008. Not only was it an amazing movie (SEE IT if you havent't already) but it also really showed the good vs. evil and how good will always win in the end. Heath Ledger was an amazing Joker...really no one else will be able to top his performance. I just bought it on BlueRay today...Target had it for $22!!!
2. Faith Hill's "Joy To The World" Christmas cd - Anybody that knows me really well, know's that Faith Hill is my "idol". I've loved her from "Wild One" and I think will always love everything she does. And we have that adoption thing going on... ;) Anyways, for the past several years rumors have been wild about a Christmas cd. Finally in September she released one. It's very traditional...but her version of "Little Drummer Boy" will bring you to tears. Buy it, hey I'm sure it's on clearance :).
3. The Shack - All I have to say is "life-changing". Please read if you have the chance.
4. 24-Redemtion - This only made it that much harder to wait for the 7th season of 24 to return to TV. I'm so glad to have Jack Bauer back saving the world!!
5. Florida vs. Alabama - Also if you know me, you know I love me some college football. And since the Vols sucked...the highlight was watching FL & AL duke it out. Glad to say the Gator's came out victorious.
6. Guitar Hero & Rock Band - I think I only loved these because it brings back good memories of playing until 4am with some pretty amazing neighbors! Let the good times roll...
7. Mi Cabana Mexican Food - So I hate to even say this...but La Caretta has nothing on Jacksonville's Mi Cabana. We probably ate there atleast twice a week, which thinking about is really sad...but it was that good. I miss that place greatly.
8. Baby Nathan's arrival - I became really good friends w/ one of the other wives from 3/2. We were pretty much inseperable. She was pregnant when I met her, so when Nathan finally arrived, I was so excited to meet him. I tried to spoil him rotten until we moved. He truly is the sweetest baby boy ever! I can't wait to see him again (hopefully in a few weeks)!!
9. Wilmington, NC trips - My friend Megan and I made countless trips to Wilmington, NC. Everytime getting lost and making countless u-turns. We always had to have Kilwin's ice cream and shop at Khols and one time we did the Ghost Walk, when it started POURING down rain. I've never seen rain so hard. Come to find out, there had been tornadoes in the area. Oh well. It was fun and a lot of good memories were made.
10. Dad playing drums again... - If you have ever seen my dad play drums, you will know why this is on my list. My dad was called into the ministry a few years ago and upon leaving Indian Springs, he also left behind his drum sticks. I don't think he realized until returning to ISBC how much he missed it. Later this year I finally got to see him play again after several years. It was so sweet and awesome to watch. It brought tears to my eyes. You may think this is silly. But this is truly his way of worshiping. Not even colon surgery could slow the man down! I'm hoping to see him continue to rock out on drums in 2009!
So there is my list of favorite things/events from 2008. It really was a great year. Taylor also returned from his 2nd deployment in Iraq. I'm forever praising God for keeping him safe.
I can only hope 2009 is half as good...1 thing I'm looking foward to...24 baby!!!!!!!! Oh and the ever so cheesy American Idol, what can I say?

With the new year now here...I updated our blog with a new look. Hope you enjoy it. I also added a few neat features...Twitter and Favorite links. Twitter is very similar to the status updates like on Facebook and Myspace.
